Host Requirements

This page lists what a workstation needs to run the Remotle host. For the devices people connect from, see System Requirements.

Windows

Item	Requirement
Operating system	Windows 11, 64-bit
Graphics card	NVIDIA, with NVENC
Installer	The setup program uses the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime for its window. Without it, the Windows Installer window is used instead.

The host is validated on Windows 11 with an NVIDIA graphics card. Windows Server is not supported.

Other graphics cards

On a workstation without NVENC the host encodes H.264 on the processor. HEVC (H.265), full colour (4:4:4) and HDR need NVENC.

HDR also needs Windows 11 23H2 or later.

Other graphics cards

On a workstation without NVENC the host uses VA-API hardware encoding where the graphics driver provides it, and otherwise encodes H.264 on the processor. HEVC (H.265) and full colour (4:4:4) work over VA-API. HDR needs NVENC.
