Host Settings

These settings are for administrators. A value that is absent takes its default.

Settings are values under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Computle\Remotle.

Value Type Default Values Applies
UsbRedirection REG_DWORD 1 0 turns off USB devices for every session on this workstation. 1 allows them. Restart the ComputleSessionServer service
AllowClientTuning REG_DWORD 1 0 stops a connected client changing this host’s streaming settings during a session. Next session
Codec REG_SZ h265 (set by the installer) h265 for HEVC, h264 for H.264. A screen wider than 4096 pixels uses HEVC whatever this says. HEVC needs NVENC. Restart the ComputleService service
Yuv444 REG_DWORD 1 0 sends 4:2:0 colour to every client. 1 sends full colour (4:4:4) to a client whose device decodes it in hardware. Needs NVENC. Within a second
Hdr10 REG_DWORD 1 0 turns off HDR for every client. 1 allows HDR for a client whose device and screen support it. Needs NVENC and Windows 11 23H2 or later. Within a second

Logging is under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Computle\Remotle\Log.

Value Type Default Values Applies
LocalLogging REG_DWORD 0 1 writes log files on the workstation. See Host Logs. Restart the host services, or the workstation

To turn USB devices off for the whole organisation, use Device Features instead.

Update settings are on Host Updates.

Settings are in /etc/computle/host.conf, as Name = value lines under a section heading. The file is owned by root, mode 0640, group computle.

[Remotle]
UsbRedirection = 1
AllowClientTuning = 1
Codec = h265
Yuv444 = 1
Hdr10 = 1
[Log]
LocalLogging = 0

The names, defaults and values are the same as on Windows. Hdr10 needs NVENC. A change to UsbRedirection, AllowClientTuning, Yuv444 or Hdr10 is read within a second. Codec applies when the next session starts. LocalLogging applies after systemctl restart computle-hostd and a new GNOME session.
